Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival in Kigali, Rwanda
Welcome to Rwanda - the "Land of a Thousand Hills." Arrive at Kigali International Airport and transfer to your hotel. Afternoon city tour including the Kigali Genocide Memorial.
Day 2
Kigali to Volcanoes National Park
Scenic drive north through terraced hillsides to Volcanoes National Park - home of the mountain gorillas. Arrive at your lodge nestled at the foot of the Virunga volcanoes.
Day 3
Gorilla Trekking - Volcanoes NP
The magical day! After a 7am briefing, trek into the bamboo forests with expert trackers to find a habituated gorilla family. Spend one unforgettable hour observing these gentle giants.
Day 4
Golden Monkey Trekking & Transfer to Uganda
Optional morning golden monkey trek in the bamboo forests. These playful, beautiful primates are only found here. Afternoon cross into Uganda and drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.
Day 5
Gorilla Trekking - Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Second gorilla trekking experience in Uganda's Bwindi - a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the last strongholds of mountain gorillas.
Day 6
Bwindi Community Experience
Morning Batwa pygmy cultural experience - learn about the ancient forest-dwelling people. Afternoon nature walk through the impenetrable forest with a naturalist guide.
Day 7
Return to Kigali
Return drive to Kigali through Uganda and back into Rwanda. Stops at scenic viewpoints and local markets. Evening farewell dinner at one of Kigali's acclaimed restaurants.
Day 8
Departure
Morning transfer to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight. Karibu tena - welcome back!
